Князь Сергей Михайлович Волконский (1860–1937) — российский театральный деятель, режиссер, искусствовед, критик. Внук декабриста и княгини М. Н. Волконской, земский деятель и директор Императорских театров (1899–1901), блистательный литератор, пропагандист и организатор ритмического воспитания в России.
Книга «Лавры» посвящена театральным впечатлениям автора, «Странствия» воссоздают панораму культурной жизни Европы рубежа XIX–XX вв., а также содержат записки о путешествии в Америку, Японию и Юго-Восточную Азию.

Prince Sergei Mikhailovich Volkonsky (1860–1937) was a Russian theatrical figure, director, art historian, and critic. Grandson of the Decembrist and Princess M. N. Volkonskaya, a zemstvo figure and director of the Imperial Theatres (1899–1901), a brilliant writer, propagandist, and organizer of rhythmic education in Russia.
The book “Lavra” is devoted to the author’s theatrical impressions, “Wanderlust” recreates a panorama of the cultural life of Europe at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries, and also includes notes on a trip to America, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
The book will be of interest to theatre historians, art historians, cultural experts, students of theatre and culture higher schools, and a wide range of interested readers.
